    Event Description:

On September 13, 2018, excessive pressure in natural gas lines owned by Columbia Gas caused a series of explosions and fires to occur in as many as 40 homes, with over 80 individual fires, in the Merrimack Valley towns of Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover.

Joe AlbaneseJoe Albanese, the project's chief recovery officer, was appointed by Gov. Charlie Baker on Sept.17 and the race began to replace nearly 45 miles of aging pipeline, recertify an additional 13 miles of pipeline, and relight 10,000-plus homes before winter set in.

Joe joins us to share the untold story of the massive relief and recovery effort that he led. Few in our industry have the experience to undertake a mobilization of this magnitude, and the sheer scale of the numbers are impressive. $450M of work was put in place in just 12 weeks.

CEO of Commodore Builders, Joe Albanese is a retired Navy Seabee who served 28 years in the military. He was mobilized to the Middle East in 2007, reporting to the Commander of the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment (FWD). In that role, he led more than 2,200 Navy Seabees throughout Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and The Horn of Africa.

Commodore Builders, a $340 million construction management firm, was founded by Joe in 2002. Commodore is a mid-sized, certified Veteran-Owned Business. They provide construction management services to the corporate, tenant interior, institutional and life science sectors, including state and municipal projects. Commodore's projects include ground-up construction, tenant build-outs, renovations, historic restoration and enabling work. Commodore is the recipient of the Globe Top 100 Places to Work and the BBJ Best Places to Work awards.
